BOTANICAL GARDENS OF THE UNIVERSITY

The university gardens are open to the public and you can wander around at your leisure. The gardens are laid out mainly in plots containing the different speeches and are labelled mainly in Flemish, it is interesting to compare the names with their English ones some correspond and some are completely different. There is also an arboretum and tropical greenhouses. Directions from St Pieters station. Turn right along Princes Clenentinalaan, then 2nd left into Parklaan, this leads  into Emile Clauslaan. At junction of Ledeganckstraat the gardens are immediately on the right or its over the road from Citadel Park. Open Mon-Fri 09.00 to 16.30. Sat-Sun 09.00 to 12.00. Free. There is also a Cactus and succulent house but it is only open on Sundays between 11.00 and 12.00 so if you cannot get there have a look at the photos below.
